Position Title : Accountant

Department : Accounting

Status : Full-Time

FLSA Status : Exempt

Location : Onsite, Virginia Beach campus

Position Purpose

Our Accountant is responsible for A/R invoicing, various account reconciliations, completion of month-end close, work papers, and ongoing accounting projects.

Position Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

• All A/R invoicing functions
• Unclaimed property liaison
• Generation, analysis, reviewing, and communication of financial data, including accounting records and research of transactions and reports.
• Assist in the month-end close process, including preparation of account reconciliations and audit work papers.
• Perform regular and recurring accounting functions and documentation
• Apply the financial policies and procedures of the company
• Research and collect data to be used in transactions
• Develops, implements, and maintains systems, procedures, and policies for general ledger functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
• Provides accounting assistance to department managers and operations staff; responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Strong technical account skills (GAAP)
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated and able to work both independently and within a team
• Must have large ERP system experience, accounting systems/software experience- Great Plains preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The Accountant position requires working at a desk at the corporate office for periods of time up to eight hours
