Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED required. Must currently hold the ABROE or other certification or obtain upon eligibility. Must have or be able to obtain CPR certification within 6 months. Experience: Prior experience using computer software, preferably electronic medical records. Prior customer service experience preferred. One year of Medical Office experience strongly preferred. Essential Job Functions: Answers telephone by identifying person answering and assisting callers in a pleasant manner. Screening, prioritizing, and returning patient calls according to office procedure. Schedules appointments according to office procedure and to patients need Upon checking in a patient, acquires all necessary information (registration forms, insurance card copies, responsible partys information, etc.) prior to physician seeing patient. Accurately performs data entry on computer system for Billing and posting payment and gathering other necessary information. Processes incoming and outgoing mail, records requests, patient documentation, etc. based on office procedure Ensure smooth patient flow throughout the office by assisting in other areas when needed or as requested. Always maintains patient confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines. Communicates effectively by telephone and to the patient at his/her level of understanding. Promotes positive public relations to patients, visitors, families, physicians, and others. Physical appearance and conduct are consistent with acceptable professional ethics and CPC standards. Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes, and making suggestions for improvement. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records Ability to type. Ability to identify emergent medical situations. Demonstrate positive customer service skills. Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment, multi-tasking. Equipment Operated: Will use basic office equipment such as a computer, printer, copier, and fax machine. Work Environment: Well-lit medical office environment. Mental/Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift at least 10 lbs.
