As an Safety/Security Behavior Health Officer, you will help to provide that sense of safety within the boundaries of Legacy Health; extend courteous assistance as an informational resource; and ensure the security of buildings, equipment and other assets located on our property. You may also be required to observe behavioral health patients or staff a desk position. ResponsibilitiesThe Behavior Health Safety/Security Officer ensures the safety and security of patients, employees, visitors, and physicians within the boundaries of Unity Center property for Behavioral Health and assists staff in the process of any behavioral de-escalation events as necessary. Aids customers as an informational resource; ensures the safety and security of all property to include buildings, equipment and other assets located specifically on UCBH property.
This position is specialized in that the work environment will be interacting with individuals impacted by serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and/or substance use disorders (SUD). It is expected that the majority of public facing interactions will be with individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and/or under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
This position will require additional training and skill set, as Unity is a unique treatment facility that provides crisis intervention for those in need in our community.
This position is required to be skilled in verbal de-escalation and management of physically escalating behavior from both adult and adolescent (11-17 years of age) patient population. The expectation of this position given the unique care environment of Unity is that every effort will be made to de-escalate patient scenarios with as limited or minimal physical intervention. This requires well-developed verbal skills, emotional regulation and ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team.
