Special Education Teacher Needed in Weston, WV!

Job Description:

Special Education Teacher is directly responsible for the instructional program of students assigned to his/her class or case load in accordance with school policies and procedures. The Special Education Teacher is the team leader for the student’s educational team and is responsible for determining each child’s unique needs and coordinating educational and supportive services necessary to implement each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) with integrity and provide an appropriate education program.

• Openings in Elementary, Middle, and High School
• Looking for 24/25 School Year - 35 to 40 hours per week 
• Weston, West Virginia

Pay:

• $40-$45/hr.
• $1,600-$1,800 per week based on 40 hours.
• For the 24/25 school year: Up to $64,800 (36 weeks)

As a Special Education Teacher, you will:

• Develop and implement engaging, effective lesson plans and special education programs tailored to students’ needs.
• Adapt curriculum based on Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and diverse learning styles.
• Maintain regular contact with parents, providing updates on progress and collaborating on strategies to support learning at home.
• Create a well-organized, safe, and positive learning environment.
• Implement strategies to manage behavior and ensure a productive classroom atmosphere.
• Provide individualized and group instruction, utilizing specialized techniques for students with diverse needs.
• Assess and track student progress, adjusting instruction as needed.
• Modify curriculum and materials according to IEP goals.
• Conduct evaluations and maintain accurate records of student progress.
• Collaborate with educators and specialists to support student success.
• Engage in professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.
• Ensure compliance with special education regulations and complete necessary documentation.

Requirements:

• Valid West Virginia Certification in Multi-Categorical Special Education, LD/BD/ MI/DD, K-12 with Autism.
• Collaborate effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.
• Proficiency in the subject area; experience with case management, paperwork, compliance, and IEPs.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and policies affecting special education.
• Knowledge of current special education practices and methodologies.
• Must have the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; and the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; May include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required.
