The Web Developer will be involved in implementation of and updates to Grid Principles software and websites, including both our own internal projects and the work we do for our clients. The Web Developer is expected to have a very firm understanding of website and web app development, and will be expected to implement a range of solutions in projects.
The Web Developer will be expected to turn custom Grid Principles web designs into the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript needed to make a fully-accessible, mobile-friendly webpage. The Web Developer will also be expected to develop custom project-specific features which may interact with a database, both guest- and admin-facing. As the Web Developer will be involved in the "full stack", they are expected to work in both frontend and backend technologies to provide solutions. An interest in designing these systems is welcome, but not required.
All employees are expected to keep their own schedule, to track their own hours, and to communicate potential “pain points” or other stoppage points in their work as early as possible to their supervisor or project manager.
As web development is a constantly-evolving field, the expectation is that there is always something new to learn, and skills to hone. The Web Developer should be experienced enough to be able to implement solutions they already have a familiarity with, but also to be able to pivot into (and learn how to implement) new solutions when necessary. As such, an enthusiasm for problem-solving and the capacity to learn new tools, processes, applications etc. is a must.
