Priority Review Date: Job Summary: Under department supervision the faculty member will teach (including team-teaching) ASL, interpreting, or Deaf culture courses for the American Sign Language and Interpreting programs as assigned by the ASL/Interpreting coordinator and/or the department chair.

“6. Follow s SLCC policies and procedures.”1. Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language or ASL/English
Interpreting, or in ASL education, Linguistics, or a related field (e.g. Deaf Studies or Deaf Education) from an accredited college or university is required.
2. Proficiency in American Sign Language with demonstrated ability to converse fluently in high level professional and academic conversation in ASL required.
3. Teaching experience in ASL or ASL/English Interpreting.
4. Ability to read and write standard English.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued: Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language or ASL/English
Interpreting, or in ASL education, Linguistics, or a related field (e.g. Deaf Studies or Deaf Education) from an accredited college or university is required.
2. Proficiency in American Sign Language with demonstrated ability to converse fluently in high level professional and academic conversation in ASL required.
3. Teaching experience in ASL or ASL/English Interpreting.
4. Ability to read and write standard English.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Master’s Degree preferred.2. Master’s degree in American Sign Language or ASL/EnglishInterpreting or related field preferred.2. Three (3) years full-time or five (5) years part-time colleg-level teaching experience in American Sign Language, or ASL/English Interpreting.3. Appropriate certification(s) also required such as ASLTA, CDI, RID, NIC (National Interpreter Certification) and membership in ASLTA and/or RID.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 1. Ability to use computer technology and programs, including email, spreadsheets, and program specific applications.2. Excellent communication skills.
