Job Description:

Trinity University seeks applications for a tenure track position in socio-cultural anthropology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, beginning in August 2025. Regional specialization: Latin America, Caribbean, Africa, Central Asia and/or the Middle East. Rank: assistant professor. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in environmental anthropology, as well as to those with prior experience with sole-taught courses. The candidate will be expected to be able to teach lower-division courses such as Introduction to Anthropology and Humans and the Environment, and develop upper-division courses of their choice in their area of specialization

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach upper and lower division/introductory courses under a 3/2 load that fulfill student requirements for the anthropology major, interdisciplinary programs, the First Year Experience (FYE), and the Pathways liberal studies curriculum. Should include, but is not limited to, courses that are related to one's specific area of research. Establish a research agenda that includes the authorship of publications. Provide relevant service to their department, Trinity University, and profession.

APPOINTMENT DETAILS

This position will be a 9-month appointment (9 or 12 month disbursement) starting August 2025, with a standard pre-tenure probationary period

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

Required: An earned doctorate in Anthropology by August 10, 2025.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Expertise in environmental anthropology; regional specialization in either Latin America, Caribbean, Africa, Central Asia and/or the Middle East.
